Note: Rusty enjoyed his 4 years at ASU so much that every Spring he would return for a week in the sunshine (his reward for enduring an Illinois winter). Eventually, he moved to Tucson to enjoy the Arizona climate year round (yes, even the hot summers).
2 Interestingly, Phoenix/Valley summers were not as hot as they are now. In the 1980's seldom did the temperatures get over 100 degrees. Also, the word "monsoon" didn't start being used until about the 1990's.

3 Frank Lloyd Wright began wintering in Scottsdale in the 1930's. At about the same time, Grady Gammage, Arizona State College (future ASU) president moved to Tempe. They became good friends with Frank Lloyd Wright offering a building to commemorate Gammage's 30 year battle to gain university status.
8 Students at both ASU & UA look forward to the November football game. However, there was a year when the game was not on the schedule.
Additionally, T.O.A.S.T. has many stories about Tucson you will enjoy.
